About a month ago, a friend contacted me from Marbles Kids Museum about the Imagination Ball. It’s a fundraiser that helps pay the cost of admission for children who might not otherwise be able to experience all the awesomeness Marbles offers. So of course I was psyched when she asked me to come up with a painting for their auction.
Spreading Seeds came to me after a night of sketching. I didn’t really know what I wanted to paint, but I wanted it to look and feel like the work I did while I was the artist in residence back in December. I also wanted to create something that reflected the mission of the event. The gardner in the painting picked a few flowers for himself while casting seeds out so that those that walk by this place after him will have their own flowers to enjoy.
In the end I hope I created something fun to look at and also something that will generate some cash money to help as many kids as possible enjoy the museum as much as my little girl does. If you’re interested in helping them out, buy a ticket for a fun night and a good cause.
